How to make a stage plot

  1. Set the stage width and depth in metres.
  2. Start from a preset (trio, 4-piece, 6-piece party band, DJ and sax) or add musicians and gear one by one.
  3. Drag everything into place. Click an item to rename it (for example "Lisa vocals"), rotate it or remove it.
  4. Check the input list. It fills itself from your lineup, in the order a sound engineer patches the desk.
  5. Download the PDF or PNG and send it with your technical rider.

Frequently asked questions

What is a stage plot?

A stage plot is a simple top-down drawing of the stage that shows where each musician stands, where the drums, amps and monitors go, and where you need power. Venues and sound engineers use it to prepare the stage before you arrive.

What is the difference between a stage plot and an input list?

The stage plot shows positions on the stage. The input list is a numbered list of every microphone and direct input (DI) the band needs, in the order the engineer plugs them into the mixing desk. This tool makes both from the same lineup.

Do wedding and function bands need a stage plot?

Yes. Most problems at weddings are about space and power: a stage that is too small or one socket behind the cake table. Sending a one-page stage plot with your contract or rider prevents them.

Is this stage plot maker free?

Yes. It is free with no account. Your plot is saved in your browser, and you can download it as a PDF or PNG as often as you like.

How big should the stage be for a band?

For a 5 or 6-piece band with drums, about 4 by 5 metres is comfortable. A trio can work on about 3 by 3 metres. Set your own size in the tool and see what fits.
